Three Penn State football players were named to the Walter Camp Preseason All-America Teams on Tuesday.
Senior defensive tackle Zane Durant and senior running back Nick Singleton were both named to the first team, while redshirt junior guard Vega Ioane was selected to the second team. The Nittany Lions tied with Alabama, Clemson, Indiana and Texas for most players represented on the teams.
Durant, one of five first-team defensive linemen, has been a regular starter for the past two seasons, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition each year. Last year he recorded 42 tackles (22 solo), ranked fourth in the nation among defensive tackles with 11 tackles for loss, tied for first in the Big Ten among DTs with three sacks and added a pass breakup.
Singleton, who joins Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love as one of two running backs on the preseason first team, returns to Penn State for a final season as half of the two-headed backfield monster with fellow senior Kaytron Allen. An All-Big Ten honorable mention pick last year, Singleton enters 2025 with 2,912 career rushing yards, 1,020 shy of the Penn State career record held by Evan Royster.
He also has 32 career rushing touchdowns (fifth all-time among Penn State backs) and 78 receptions for 768 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. His career rushing yards, touchdowns and 4,673 all-purpose yards lead all returning FBS players.
Ioane started all 16 games at left guard in 2024 and was named second-team All-Big Ten. He helped to anchor a line that was ninth in the nation in fewest tackles for loss allowed and 23rd in fewest sacks.
Coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance, Penn State’s three Walter Camp Preseason All-Americans are part of a veteran core returning to the Nittany Lions for a 2025 season with national championship aspirations.
Penn State kicks off the season at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 in Beaver Stadium.
