Penn State football suffered its first decommitment of the current recruiting cycle on Tuesday morning.
The Nittany Lions lost a pledge from three-star, class of 2027 cornerback Semajay Robinson, who flipped his commitment to Virginia. Robinson is ranked as the No. 42 Florida native, No. 51 cornerback and No. 501 overall recruit in the class, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
Rumors of Robinson’s departure began swirling when he deleted Instagram posts featuring Penn State and removed the school from his bio, which was changed to “… commit.” He recently took an official visit to the Cavaliers after committing to the Nittany Lions, potentially swaying his opinion.
Robinson, who attends Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, is listed at 6-foot-2.5 and 190 pounds and held offers from Auburn, Louisville, Texas Tech, Pitt and others during his initial recruitment.
Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class is back down to 21 total members, but the Nittany Lions still have three other cornerbacks in the class, so depth isn’t an issue. The class now ranks No. 16 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten, per the 247Sports composite, but is expected to grow in the coming days.
