Forecasted rain from the remnants of an Atlantic hurricane is expected to impact Beaver Stadium parking this weekend.
On Thursday, Penn State Athletics said it will close the Overnight RV lot (ORV) from noon on Friday through 8 a.m. on Saturday due to forecasted heavy rain. The lot is still slated to open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, according to a release.
Those who plan to arrive on Friday and park in the Overnight RV lot can instead head to Grange Park, 1 Homan Lane in Centre Hall, for overnight parking. Those who present an ORV permit won’t be charged to park.
Penn State will offer a shuttle service to and from Grange Fair to Beaver Stadium on Saturday for no charge. The line will drop off outside Pegula Ice Arena.
ORV pass holders who head to Beaver Stadium can park a car in their spot rather than an RV on Saturday, according to the athletic department. Only one car is permitted per ORV pass.
Forecasted rain is also making an impact across the tailgate lots. Those with parking passes who are concerned about the grass lots can park at Innovation Park, where tailgating will still be permitted. Penn State will operate a free-of-charge shuttle service from Innovation Park to Beaver Stadium and back.
Day-of-game parking won’t be available for purchase in Lot 36. Fans who still need game day parking are encouraged to visit the East or Eisenhower parking decks on Penn State’s campus, where tailgating is not permitted.
Additionally, Penn State will offer towing services for vehicles that get stuck in grass parking lots on Saturday.
AccuWeather’s Friday forecast calls for a 99% chance of precipitation, potentially providing 1.07 inches of rain in State College. Flooding in low-flying, poor-draining areas is a concern as Hurricane Nicole’s remnants travel up the coast.
No. 14 Penn State (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten) hosts Maryland (6-3, 3-3 Big Ten) at Beaver Stadium on Saturday. The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on FOX.
