Former Penn State Football Player Seriously Injured, Fiancee Killed in Colorado Hit-and-Run

A former Penn State football player was hospitalized with serious injuries and his fiancee was killed in a hit-and-run crash last week in Colorado.

Kyle Vasey, a long snapper for the Nittany Lions from 2014 to 2018, has undergone multiple surgeries since the June 1 incident and his fiancee, Corinne More, died, CBS News reported.

Vasey, 30, and More, 35, and a 76-year-old woman who was also seriously injured were walking on the sidewalk in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood at about 10:30 a.m. when 28-year-old Adam Bauserman allegedly drove a pickup truck off the road and into them. Bauserman, who was driving with a suspended license, is facing seven felony charges, including vehicular homicide, and one misdemeanor, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses said Bauserman circled around and surveyed the damage before driving off, but was taken into custody a short time later, CBS reported.

Vasey’s parents, Bruce and Shelley, wrote on a GoFundMe page to support his recovery that their son “endured multiple fractures all over his body,” including three spinal fractures and four broken ribs. He has undergone six surgeries, remains on a ventilator and is under sedation for pain management.

“Thankfully, there was no major head trauma, and everyone is optimistic about his physical recovery,” the Vaseys wrote. “However, it is expected to be a long road of recovery.

“At this time, we are asking for your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery of his body, heart, and mind. However, any donations to help with his ever-climbing medical bills would be greatly appreciated.”

Vasey was a walk-on out of Wallenpaupack Area High School in Lackawanna County and became the Nittany Lions’ starting long snapper over his final two seasons at Penn State, earning a scholarship prior to his senior year. He earned a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation and human services.

He signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2019 but did not ultimately play in the NFL. He is now a real estate broker in the Denver area, according to his LinkedIn account.
