Penn State moved up one spot to No. 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings, which were released on Tuesday evening.
The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 12 coming off a 24-15 loss to Michigan the week prior. Penn State got back to its winning ways this past Saturday with a 27-6 victory over Rutgers to close out its home schedule at Beaver Stadium.
Elsewhere in the poll Georgia sits at No. 1 while current and future Big Ten members, Ohio State, Michigan and Washington fit in at the No. 2 through No. 4 spots, respectively. Just outside the playoff field is No. 5 Florida State while Oregon, Texas, Alabama, Missouri and Louisville round out the rest of the top 10 in the latest poll, while Ole Miss trails Penn State at No. 12. The 2024 season will mark the start of the 12-team college football playoffs.
Iowa, which Penn State defeated 31-0 in September, is the only other ranked Big Ten team, landing at No. 17.
Penn State will close out the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Michigan State at Ford Field in Detroit. The Black Friday contest will be televised on NBC.
The next College Football Playoff rankings will be released at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, on ESPN.
