Penn State Continues Climb Up AP Top 25 Poll

Penn State continued its ascension up the rankings.

The latest AP Top 25 poll was released on Sunday afternoon, with the Nittany Lions jumping up two spots to No. 14. They began the season at No. 18 in the preseason poll but have climbed into the top 15 following a 2-0 start to the season, including a 27-9 victory over Temple on Saturday.

Penn State is the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team, trailing No. 4 Indiana, No. 6 Ohio State and No. 12 USC. Other ranked conference teams include No. 18 Iowa, No. 19 Michigan and No. 21 Oregon. Washington was barely left out, placing atop the “others receiving votes” category as the de facto No. 26 team. UCLA also received votes.

The Nittany Lions have two currently ranked teams on their schedule in the Trojans, who will visit on Oct. 10, and the Wolverines, who they’ll face in Ann Arbor the following week on Oct. 17. They’ll also travel to the West Coast to face the Huskies on Nov. 7.
