After three weeks at No. 6, Penn State football fell one spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

The Nittany Lions came in at No. 7 in the poll released Sunday afternoon, a day after the Nittany Lions’ 63-0 pounding of UMass.

Penn State’s drop came after a top-10 showdown between future Big Ten brethren Washington and Oregon. The Huskies moved up from No. 7 to No. 5 following a 36-33 win over the Ducks, who fell one spot to No. 9. Washington’s move into the top five pushed Oklahoma down one spot to No. 6.

Georgia remained atop the poll, while the Nittany Lions’ Big Ten peers Michigan and Ohio State held steady at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Penn State travels to Columbus next week for a highly anticipated matchup against the Buckeyes and hosts the Wolverines on Nov. 11.

Florida State also retained its place at No. 4.

Texas climbed one spot to No. 8 following its bye week and North Carolina entered the top 10 at No. 10 after a win over Miami.

Among Big Ten programs, Iowa remained the only other ranked team, holding onto the No. 24 spot after a 15-6 win over Wisconsin and taking the poll position in the Big Ten West. Penn State defeated the Hawkeyes 31-0 on Sept. 23.

Future Big Ten members USC and UCLA both dropped in the poll following weekend losses. The Trojans fell eight spots to No. 18 after a 48-20 loss to Notre Dame and the Bruins tumbled seven spots to No. 25 after a 36-24 loss to Oregon State.
