Penn State defensive end Adisa Isaac declared for the NFL Draft on Wednesday night but indicated that he will still play in the Nittany Lions’ upcoming clash against Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
“I am so appreciative of what Coach Franklin and this football family has done for me and my family over the course of these years,” Isaac wrote on Twitter. “I arrived at Penn State as a kid and I am leaving a man thanks to the guidance of all the great coaches and players I met along the way. It is more than just football, they’ve taught me about overcoming adversity, which prepared me for my life away from this program and I am forever grateful.”
He is the seventh Nittany Lion to declare for the 2024 draft. Of those seven, only fellow defensive end Chop Robinson has indicated that he will not play in the Peach Bowl.
Isaac has been with Penn State since 2019, missing the 2021 season due to an injury before returning in 2022 to record nearly 30 tackles to go with four sacks during a breakout season that established him as a force on the Nittany Lions’ defensive front. There was some curiosity if Isaac would return following the 2022 campaign, but he ultimately opted to play one more season in 2023 at Penn State. Over the course of this past regular season, Isaac added 7.5 sacks and 35 tackles to his resume.
He joins Robinson, Theo Johnson, Curtis Jacobs, Caedan Wallace, Daequan Hardy and Olu Fashanu in having declared for the draft. Fashanu traveled with Penn State to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl but has not indicated if he plans on playing in the game.
