Penn State football will reportedly host Florida International University on Sept. 6, 2025, according to the Action Network’s football insider Brett McMurphy. Penn State and FIU have faced off just once in program history, with the Nittany Lions coming out on top in a 59-0 win at Beaver Stadium in 2007.
The report and likely pending announcement by Penn State closes the book on the Nittany Lions’ out-of-conference slate for the 2025 season, which also will include home meetings against Villanova and Nevada. The 2025 season will mark the second year in the expanded Big Ten, which will feature hosting Oregon at Beaver Stadium in addition to trips to Ohio State, Iowa and UCLA among others.
For this upcoming 2024 season, Penn State is scheduled to play at West Virginia on Aug. 31 to open the campaign before returning home for meetings against Bowling Green (Sept. 7) and Kent State (Sept. 21) to round out the nonconference schedule. Trips to USC (Oct. 12) and Wisconsin (Oct. 26) headline the road slate, while Ohio State and Washington will travel to State College in back-to-back weeks (Nov. 2 and 9) for what is sure to be a pivotal moment in the college football season for all three programs.
The 2024 season marks the first of the expanded College Football Playoff format that will feature 12 teams rather than the previous format of just four.
