According to Penn State coach James Franklin, star defensive Chop Robinson is not expected to miss the remainder of the season following an injury against Ohio State this past weekend.

That said, Franklin did not comment on Robinson’s availability for this weekend’s pending clash with Indiana.

“From what I understand and what I see and what I know, I don’t see this being a long-term issue,” Franklin said on Tuesday during his weekly press conference. “You never know when it comes to medical. But hopefully we’ll be getting Chop back here soon. As you guys know, I’m pretty open when it’s a season-ending injury. I don’t see that.”

Robinson was injured in the first half of Penn State’s 20-12 loss against Ohio State after taking what appeared to be an accidental hit to the head from Ohio State lineman Matthew Jones. Robinson stayed on the ground for several minutes following the hit before leaving the field with assistance from trainers.

Franklin did not address the nature of Robinson’s injury following the game and did not elaborate on Tuesday either. Franklin generally has never shared any significant injury details or specifics over the course of his time at Penn State.

If Robinson is unable to play this upcoming weekend, Penn State would likely look to the already established pairing of Dani Dennis-Sutton and Adisa Isaac with a slew of younger options behind those two. Isaac, in particular, has been exceptional this season with nearly 9.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks to his name through seven games.
