Penn State receiver Harrison Wallace was injured in the first half of the Nittany Lions’ 33-24 victory over Indiana on Saturday afternoon after landing awkwardly on his shoulder. Wallace would leave the field after being assisted by Penn State’s training staff and head directly to the locker room. Wallace would return to the sidelines by his right arm in a sling.

As per usual Penn State coach James Franklin did not address the nature of Wallace’s injury following the game [and was not asked about it either] but might offer an update during his weekly Tuesday press conference. Traditionally Franklin only announces season-ending injuries, but with just four games left in the regular season Wallace could very well be out for the year.

In either case Wallace appears to be set to miss some amount of time moving forward meaning he would be sidelined with injury for the second time this season. Wallace was originally injured against Delaware in the second week of the season and did not make his return until Penn State’s blowout clash with UMass just two weeks ago. Wallace was targeted twice on Saturday but did not record a catch while last week against Ohio State in Columbus he registered two catches for 19 yards. Despite the injury Wallace has 161-yards receiving, the second-most on the team among active wide receivers behind KeAndre Lambert-Smith.

Heading into the year Wallace was seen as a 1a/1b option alongside Lambert-Smith but aforementioned injuries have kept Wallace from making good on that potential.

“I think getting Trey back is a huge piece of that puzzle,” Franklin said prior to the UMass game. “I think it helps KeAndre, I think it helps Drew [Allar], I think it helps our team, I think it helps our offense,  I think it helps Coach [Mike] Yurcich in calling the game. But I think that will really help us having those two guys both on the field at the same time.”
