Penn State will again be without one of its top defensive backs against Maryland on Saturday. Cornerback Elliot Washington II, who leads the Nittany Lions with six pass deflections, has been ruled out for a third consecutive game, per the Big Ten’s availability report.

Wide receiver Harrison Wallace III has been listed questionable. He currently ranks second on the team with 35 receptions and 579 receiving yards.

Defensive tackle Kaleb Artis, a new addition to the availability report, has also been ruled out. His absence could be significant for a defensive line that is already thin on depth after the departure of Hakeem Beamon and long-term injury to Alonzo Ford Jr.

With Artis out, that could put a spotlight on Ty Blanding and true freshman Xavier Gilliam as viable options to back up Zane Durant, Dvon J-Thomas and Coziah Izzard.

As for the Terrapins, starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. is questionable. In his first season as the team’s starter, Edwards has thrown for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
