Penn State men’s hockey defenseman Kenny Johnson has been suspended for one game by the Big Ten, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The Michigan native was involved in a collision with Army’s Colin Bilek as the final horn sounded during Penn State’s victory over Army on Saturday night. Chaos ensued after the hit, as Bilek went straight for Johnson and punched him. Bilek was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for direct head contact, and Johnson was given a five-minute major penalty and game misconduct for clipping, which normally results in an ejection, but the game was over at that point.

The Nittany Lion defenseman will now miss Penn State’s matchup with No. 13 Notre Dame Friday night at Pegula Ice Arena. He is having his best season with Penn State yet, with two points so far but 25 blocked shots, which ranks third on the team. With Johnson out of the lineup, the Nittany Lions will scramble to put someone in his spot.
