Penn State quarterback Drew Allar will learn from and teach with the most renowned quarterbacking family in the game this summer as a college counselor at the Manning Passing Academy. The camp is run by the Manning family, headlined by the NFL quarterbacking trio of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. The event is nearing its 30th year in existence and has featured some of the best young quarterbacks in the game. It is also geared towards running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.
Former Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford attended the camp as a counselor twice during his collegiate career. The camp features just over 1,000 campers and around 45 collegiate quarterbacks. Of the so-far-announced college quarterbacks set to attend the event only Illinois’ Luke Altmyer also hails from the Big Ten.
The Manning Passing Academy is set to take place from June 22-25 at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Allar has not officially been named Penn State’s starting quarterback but generally is expected to shake out as the Nittany Lions starter by the time Penn State takes the field against West Virginia to open the 2023-24 campaign. It will mark Penn State coach James Franklin’s 10th season in State College and his fourth main starting quarterback with Christian Hackenberg, Trace McSorley and Clifford all taking on that role during Franklin’s tenure.
