Penn State football released numbers, heights and weights for its 25 newcomers currently on campus as winter workouts began this week. Another roster update should be expected sometime during spring camp and then again sometime near the start of preseason workouts following summer enrollment.

From a roster management standpoint, a handful of duplicate numbers on the same side of the ball could eventually lead to a few positional changes down the road, although no such changes have been announced. One such example includes running back Quinton Martin sharing No. 25 with running back DK Kency or offensive lineman Garrett Sexton sharing No. 70 with offensive linemen J’ven Williams.. The NCAA allows for no more than two players to wear the same number and both players cannot be on the field at the same time. This could also be alleviated by another number change.

Elsewhere in the numbers department, freshman defensive lineman Jaylen Harvey will wear No. 44, the same number as former defensive end Chop Robinson. Both players addended Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard in high school prior to their time at Penn State. Harvey heads to State College straight from high school while Robinson spent one year at Maryland prior to his transfer.

In terms of the physical, five-star tight end prospect Luke Reynolds lands on campus at 6-4, 220 pounds, some 37 pounds lighter (and two inches shorter) than returning star tight end Tyler Warren. Incoming transfer receiver Julian Fleming comes to Penn State from Ohio State at 6-2, 210 pounds, while frshman offensive lineman Cooper Cousins is the heaviest addition at 320 pounds.
