In collaboration with Playfly Max and Lockerverse, Penn State Athletics this week announced the creation of ROAR+, a new digital subscription platform featuring exclusive content with student-athletes at the forefront. The subscription platform will officially launch on July 24, however, fans can subscribe immediately at roarplus.co.
ROAR+ will offer Penn State fans access to behind-the-scenes content, real-time chat-based interactions and original programming while directly supporting student-athletes through NIL deals. The platform will offer multiple subscription tiers ranging from $15 to $250 monthly, allowing fans to choose their level of access and benefits.
“As part of the Roar Solutions portfolio, we’re constantly innovating to enhance the student-athlete experience in this evolving era of college athletics,” Playfly Max general manager of NIL Morgyn Seigfried said in a release. “ROAR+ will forge a direct connection with our most passionate supporters, providing student-athletes a bold and authentic platform to share their stories, their way.”
Subscribers will also have access to exclusive shows hosted by Nittany Lion football legend LaVar Arrington and longtime Penn State athletics broadcaster Brian Tripp.
According to the release, the first 500 subscribers to ROAR+ will be entered in an “ultimate White Out Experience Sweepstakes.” One subscriber will win two tickets to the White Out game against Oregon, two pregame sideline passes, two fan packs and one parking pass.
“ROAR+ is about creating a deeper connection between our fans and student-athletes while providing meaningful NIL opportunities,” Pat Kraft, Penn State vice president of intercollegiate athletics, said. “This is a bold step forward in delivering innovative experiences to our supporters and empowering our student-athletes to tell their stories like never before.”
Playfly Max, the NIL marketing and amplification arm of Penn State’s multimedia rights partner Playfly Sports, will lead the strategy, content and monetization efforts.
The platform will be hosted and powered by Lockerverse’s interactive technology, designed to “deepen fan engagement and enhance athlete storytelling in a mobile-first environment.”
Proceeds from ROAR+ subscriptions will go directly to Penn State student-athletes in exchange for content creation, fan engagement and platform promotion, according to the release.
