The State College Spikes are set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of an iconic moment in Penn State football history with a LaVar Leap Bobblehead giveaway to the first 1,000 fans who attend the game on Saturday, Aug. 19.
The leap, which has become synonymous with Arrington’s career at Penn State and one of the most recognizable college football plays of the late 1990s, came in 1998 as Arrington leapt across the line of scrimmage for a stop against Illinois. The Nittany Lions would win that game 27-0 en route to an eventual 9-3 season, going 10-3 in the following year in 1999 before a downturn in play in the early 2000s.
As for Arrington, he would go on to play in the NFL from 2000 to 2006 after being drafted No. 2 overall in the 2000 NFL Draft behind fellow teammate and defensive end Courtney Brown.
