Penn State Football: Fanatics Set to Sell Player Jerseys

Penn State football players might be “no names, all game” on the field, but you’ll soon be able to buy their name-plated jerseys through a new partnership with Fanatics.

Penn State announced Friday that it’s one of the select schools included in a new group licensing deal through Fanatics and OneTeam that will sell player jerseys. Players can “opt-in” to this program, which would then allow fans to go buy their specific jerseys and compensate the players themselves.

According to a press release, the program is set to go live before the 2022 college football season kicks off. Fanatics said it hopes to expand into more men’s and women’s sports in the future.

This new partnership is made possible through the new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules that passed before the 2021 season. The updated policies allow NCAA student-athletes to make money from their personal brands for the first time ever.

Fanatics is one of the largest sports merchandise retailers in the world and already is partnered with Penn State and more than 100 schools across the country.
