The Penn State College of the Liberal Arts commencement ceremony has been moved up by 90 minutes to noon on Sunday because of persistent rain in the forecast for the afternoon, the university announced on Saturday.
Gates at Beaver Stadium will open at 11 a.m.
Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather. Umbrellas are not allowed in the stadium, but ponchos and blankets are permitted. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-to-upper 40s with a chance fo rain as early as 11 a.m., according to AccuWeather.
The planned program with Penn State Alumni Association President Randy Houston as speaker will remain the same as planned.
College of Agricultural Sciences and College of Health and Human Development ceremonies will continue as scheduled at 9 a.m. on Sunday. A university-wide virtual ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Entrance to Beaver Stadium for commencement ceremonies throughout the weekend is by ticket only. Graduates were permitted to obtain tickets for two guests in advance.
