Penn State football has its latest addition to Linebacker U with the verbal commitment of Tony Rojas on Friday. The Fairfax, Virginia native is the latest prospect to join the Nittany Lions’ 2023 class, which entered the day ranked the No. 6 in the nation according to the 247 Network.
Rojas, a four-star prospect, is rated the No. 8 linebacker in the class and the No. 107 recruit overall in the 2023 class according to the 247 Network’s composite rankings. The future Nittany Lion hits the scales at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds and choose Penn State over the likes of Georgia and Clemson among others. Rojas most recently visited Georgia while making a visit to Penn State the week prior. He is the 18th verbal commitment to Penn State’s 2023 class and the only linebacker in the cycle so far to commit to the Nittany Lions.
While Rojas is the only linebacker to date in Penn State’s 2023 class, he is the seventh defensive player to join group that features players at the cornerback, safety and defensive line positions among the currently verbally committed prospects.
Rojas marks just the third linebacker prospect to commit to Penn State between the 2022 and 2023 classes joining incoming freshmen Keon Wylie and Abdul Carter.
Penn State’s 2023 haul is currently headlined by five-star offensive line prospect Alex Birchmeier.
The Nittany Lions will now wait for the decision by Pittsburgh edge rusher Ta’Mere Robinson, who is scheduled to announce his decision on Friday.
