Penn State men’s basketball announced the first of three new uniforms the Nittany Lions are set to debut this upcoming season on Tuesday in the lead-up to their second season under new head coach Micah Shrewsberry.
The possibility of new jerseys was teased by Penn State’s official program Twitter account earlier this summer.
Showcased in a video filmed from atop Mount Nittany, the first uniform is take on Penn State’s home white jerseys with the main features including new numbering on the chest and back as well as a keystone state homage along the belt line. The second and third uniforms set to be released is an alternate jersey and a road uniform set to be worn when the Nittany Lions take on teams away from the Bryce Jordan Center.
Penn State has taken part in uniform alterations in the recent years with a grey alternate as well as a pink and black alternate both in rotation over the past several seasons. It’s unknown at this time if those alternates will also be made available to the Nittany Lions this year and moving forward. Although not officially tracked, Penn State has a strong record in its pink and black uniforms.
The new uniforms come in stride with ongoing changes around the Penn State basketball program. The Nittany Lions are not long removed from a newly renovated locker room, weight facilities and training table area in addition to a new film room. These changes took place under now former head coach Patrick Chambers during his near decade-long tenure with the program.
