Pegula Ice Arena picked up some new signage recently with the addition of a large “Welcome to Hockey Valley” sign at the eastern end of the rink.
Hockey Valley has been a trademarked slogan owned by the university since 2011 and can be seen intermittently throughout the building, most noticeably at center ice where the puck is dropped to start each game, period and possession following a goal.
Pegula Ice Arena has been open since 2013 after breaking ground on the building in April of 2012. The Nittany Lions are set to open their 11th season as a Division I program this fall and their 12th under head coach Guy Gadowsky. Penn State is looking to bounce back from a rocky 17-20-1 season in the wake of the Nittany Lions’ 10-12-0 season in 2021 that was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Penn State’s next win as a Big Ten program will be its 160th as a member of the conference and 173rd as a Division I program.
