For the third year in a row, Penn State has been named among the “Best of the Best” LGBTQ-friendly colleges, according to Campus Pride.

Penn State earned the highest available score based on its LGBTQ counseling, support, student life, and campus safety.

“We take a tremendous amount of pride in this distinction as being a welcoming and supportive campus for our sexual and gender-diverse students, faculty, and staff,” Sonya Wilmoth, director of the Penn State Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, said.

A total of 40 total schools were chosen as the “Best of the Best,” and Penn State was one of nine colleges represented in the mid-Atlantic region.

“Although we have accomplished a great deal, work in these areas will continue as we aspire to meet the needs of an ever-changing student body,” Wilmoth said.
