Former Penn State men’s basketball forward Lamar Stevens continues to play well for the Cleveland Cavaliers during Summer League action in his second season with the franchise.

Stevens, a Philadelphia native, has put together strong outings each of the past four games with the Cavaliers who are set to face the Phoenix Suns at 6:00 EST on Monday evening.

So far this summer Stevens has managed to score 12 or more points each of the four games the Cavs have played while showing his ability to grab rebounds and play stout defense, notching at least seven rebounds in three of the four games while coming up with a steal or a block in all four outings.

Lamar Stevens’ stats against following teams in Summer League play.

  • Rockets: 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks
  • Magic: 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block
  • Pelicans: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal
  • Knicks: 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks

The solid performances are a big positive for Stevens was originally undrafted in 2020 and signed as a two-way player for the Cavs appearing in over 30 games. The franchise would eventually sign Stevens to a four-year deal but only the remainder of the 2020-21 season was guaranteed. In turn Stevens is still effectively playing to prove his worth and value for a franchise not short on young talent in the early stages of its rebuild.

Stevens will be back in State College at the end of the month for The Lamar Stevens Basketball Academy, a three-day basketball camp held at The Centre for boys and girls grades three though eight. Registration for the camp can be found at TheCentrePA.com
