Penn State football rose to No. 11 in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings which were released on Tuesday night, jumping three spots in the standings after being ranked No. 14 last week. Penn State saw the same exact movement in the latest AP Poll released on Sunday afternoon.
Georgia leads the CFP rankings, slotting in at the No. 1 spot.
Only two other Big Ten teams made the rankings, with Ohio State and Michigan both in contention for a playoff spot at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The Wolverines will host Illinois on Saturday while the Buckeyes will travel to face Maryland in College Park before the two Big Ten East leaders meet on Nov. 26 in Columbus.
TCU rounds out the top four.
Penn State is coming off a 30-0 win over Maryland this past weekend to improve to 8-2 on the year with two games remaining.
The Nittany Lions are back on the road this weekend, heading to Piscataway, New Jersey to face Rutgers in a game that is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. Penn State’s kick time for the season finale at Beaver Stadium the following weekend against Michigan State has yet to be announced and will be made public following Saturday’s game.
