SPRING MILLS — The Penns Valley Rams baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season after picking up a 13-3 victory over Claysburg on March 30.
Penns Valley smacked 16 hits in six innings. Of those, four were for extra bases, including three doubles and a homerun by Calvin Russell.
“I am very happy with our performance today both at the plate and on the field,” head coach Shawn Meyer said after the contest. “We were strong on defense today. There was a passed ball in the first inning that resulted in a run. Through the rest of the game, we were flawless on defense.”
Meyer said he was happy to see his team bounce back after an earlier loss to Bald Eagle Area.
Logan Snyder was 3-for-3 at the dish with a double and an RBI. He was also the team’s winning pitcher, tossing two innings while striking out three Bulldog batters. Cameron Shaffer, Matthew Tobias and Nate Gillespie each had two hits in the game.
