WINGATE — The Bellefonte boys’ track and field team defeated Bald Eagle 88-62 at Bald Eagle Area High School on April 20.
For the Raiders, it was the 4×800-meter relay team consisting of Hovis, Methven, Popp and Melvis who placed first with a time of 9:10.
Luke Lambert was victorious in all three throwing events over the course of the afternoon. The 4×400 relay team also placed first at the meet.
BEA’s Blake Roberts won the 200, while Nick Turner won the pole vault. Both Turner and Roberts grabbed a first-place finish in the 4×100 relay.
The Lady Eagles defeated Bellefonte 76.5 to 73.5.
The Bald Eagle Area 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams won their events.
For Bellefonte, Gabrielle Pighetti won the shot put. The 4×800 relay team also was victorious.
ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY TRACK AND FIELD
The Wolves traveled to Central Mountain High School on April 18 to battle on the track with Central Mountain. The boys’ team fell, 111-31.
Carter Kaufmann won both the 1600 and 800 events, and found another victory by joining Leland Calisitri, Tyler Emigh and Max Wortman in the 4×800 relay.
Theo Spychalski scored a season-best in javelin.
The Lady Wolves were defeated 73-69, but Clare Marsh set two school records during meet. Marsh won the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.44 and helped take first in the 4×400 relay.
The 4×800 relay team of Julia Cusatis, Addie Ebbs, Kathleen Simander, and Sera Mazza also finished first. Mazza won the 800, as well.
St. Joe’s got two more first-place finishes, with Michaela Maynard in the discus and Lindsey Carmack in the 3200.
STATE COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD
The State College High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams each took a victory April 21 at Shippensburg.
The boys’ team was led by Lance Hamilton, who won both the triple and long jump.
Chase Longnecker finished second in the 110 hurdles, while the 4×800 relay team of Joe Messner, Henry Ballard, Zach Decarmine and Marc Allerheiligan placed second.
The team’s total of 85 points was enough to win the meet.
The girls’ team scored 84 points and won the meet by way of field events.
Taylor Givens placed second in the long jump and Rachel Spencer earned a second-place finish in the high jump. Esther Seeland won the 800 and placed third in the mile.
STATE COLLEGE TENNIS
The State College boys’ tennis team took a 4-1 victory over Red Land on April 20. Nick Vanden, Terrance Li and Drew Cagle each came out on top during singles matches.
The team will now look ahead to District 6 doubles competition Wednesday, May 2.
LACROSSE
Ryan Franks led the State College boys’ lacrosse team to victory against Indiana on April 20. Franks had five goals against the Indians.
The boys were defeated 12-3 at York Suburban on April 21, and will be back in action at home Saturday, April 28.
Sally Stahl netted six goals for the State College girls’ lacrosse team in a 17-4 home win over Palmyra on April 19. The team next travels to Mechanicsburg on Saturday, April 28.
The Bellefonte boys’ lacrosse team took down Mifflin County, 16-7, on April 21. Bellefonte will travel to Danville High School on Friday, April 27.
