Centre County Adds 36 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 7,962

Centre County reported 36 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday to bring its total to 8,369, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 7,962 cases, bringing the statewide total to 571,551.

The county also had 61 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 51,391. Across Pennsylvania there were 8,807 new negatives for a total of 3,168,882.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 52 COVID-19 inpatients, three fewer than on Monday. The patients are between the ages of 38 and 97, according to a hospital spokesperson. 

Statewide, 6,151 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 1,236 in ICU and 772 on ventilators, as of Tuesday morning.

DOH now lists 125 deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, an increase of once since Monday. The Centre County Coroner’s Office has confirmed 89 COVID-19 deaths, ranging in age from 55 to 104.

The health department reported 231 new COVID-19 deaths statewide, increasing Pennsylvania’s total to 14,212.

Centre County nursing and personal care homes reported one new positive among residents. A total of 16 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 554 resident cases, 111 employee cases and 112 resident deaths.

An estimated 61% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 517,859 are confirmed and 53,692 are probable. In Centre County, 7,916 are confirmed and 453 are probable.
