As the big day draws near, more and more Christmas spirit is
evident all over town. This weekend is no exception, as
State
College
continues to offer exciting possibilities for
holiday-themed fun.

First off, for the next two weekends
State
College
is running the fourth annual Polar Express and Santa<92>s Workshop. Perfect for younger children,
the event consists of a reading of the award-winning children<92>s book The Polar
Express at the Schlow Library, followed by a magical trolley ride to Santa<92>s
Workshop. Here, kids will both receive a free gift from the workshop and have
an opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa!

The event takes place during Saturday and Sunday for the
next two weekends, on Saturdays from
11:00
a.m.
to
3 p.m.
and on Sundays from
2:00 p.m.
to
5:00 p.m. Everyone meets
at the Schlow Library, and from there children will take a trolley just down
the street to the PSU Downtown Theatre for Santa<92>s Workshop. The event is
completely free and is open to children 12 and under. If you need any other
information feel free to call 814-238-7004 or contact the program director at dsc@downtownstatecollege.com.

It<92>s also worth noting that Believe: Magical Downtown State College is promoting a number of
special programs in a number of local businesses, including both a Holiday
Raffle and a special Believe Contest. For more information on these holiday
programs offered by the borough, visit https://www.downtownstatecollege.com.

If you<92>re looking to get away for the weekend, what<92>s more
fun in wintertime than skiing? With
the seasonal snows just beginning to blow in, people are going to start heading
out on the mountains. VisitPA.com makes it easy to find

Pennsylvania
ski slopes, as well as local
lodging and dining. Just click here
to access the site.

To find out more on local ski conditions, there<92>s a new site
devoted to skiing conditions in

Pennsylvania
:
<93>Who’s Making Snow/Who’s Open?<94> lets
users know about open ski slopes and their snow conditions. The site is updated
frequently, so be sure to check back often before you hit the slopes. The site
can be accessed here.

It looks like it<92>s going to be extra cold and maybe even a
little bit snowy this weekend, so make sure you dig out your boots and throw on
your winter coat before you head out.
