Some Centre County schools will have a delayed start on Wednesday because of continuing frigid temperatures.
State College and Philipsburg-Osceola school districts on Tuesday night both announced two-hour delays for Wednesday.
Centre County is under a cold weather advisory through 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping near zero overnight and wind chill values as low as -15 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The extreme cold is expected to continue through the end of the week, with forecasted high temperatures in the low-to-mid teens and subzero nighttime lows.
It marks the third consecutive day that weather has disrupted local schools.
All Centre County school districts were closed on Monday and had two-hour delays on Tuesday after a winter storm dumped about a foot of snow throughout the region on Sunday.
