The Centre Area Transportation Authority will suspend all operations on Sunday in anticipation of hazardous conditions resulting from the incoming winter storm.
The suspension includes CATA Bus and CATA Ride paratransit service.
“We recognize that this may cause inconvenience for some riders, and this decision was not made lightly,” the authority wrote in a news release on Saturday night. “However, the safety and well-being of our passengers and employees remain our highest priority.”
CATA plans to resume service “as soon as it is safe to do so.” Riders are encouraged to visit catabus.com/rider-alerts for status updates.
Saturday night service will be completed in full.
The far-reaching storm was expected to bring snow to Centre County starting late Saturday night and continue throughout Sunday. Forecasted accumulations range from 8 to 18 inches.
CATA’s service suspension is one of many impacts announced in the region. For an extensive list of closures, snow emergencies and travel restrictions, visit our updated tracker.
