May is National Bike Month and a few events this weekend in the Centre Region will encourage community members to get out and ride.

Coinciding with National Bike to Work Day, May 20 is Bike Anywhere Friday in the Centre Region. Residents can ride any distance and to any place in the Centre Region and register the number of miles biked at crcog.net/bike.

Everyone that registers will be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card for Freeze Thaw Cycles, 109 S. Allen St.

“The weather has been amazing for Bike Month 2022,” CentreBike President Matthew Cox said. “This is one of the many ways bicyclists can help us celebrate Bike Month in the Centre Region. So, get out and ride and register for a chance to win a gift card to supplement your bike gear.”

On Saturday, State College will host the Mayor’s Ride and a “bike-in” movie.

The Mayor’s Ride will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting and ending at Orchard Park. The 6.21-mile route will follow designated shared use paths, bike lanes and bike routes in the borough. Registration is required.

At 8:30 p.m., community members are invited to a free showing of “E.T. the Extra Terrestrial” in Sidney Friedman Park on South Fraser Street.
