The Centre County DUI Task Force conducted roving patrols during Blue-White weekend, resulting in several arrests.
A report released on Monday said police arrested seven people for driving under the influence between Friday and Sunday. The patrols also resulted in one charge for drug possession and one charge of underage drinking.
Twelve traffic citations were issued and 51 warnings were given for various traffic violations.
Officers from Ferguson Township, Patton Township and Spring Township participated in the patrols.
‘The Centre County DUI Task Force remains committed to keeping the streets of Centre County safer and will arrest anyone who is impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both,’ a task force news release stated. ‘If you are going out, you need to have a plan for getting home safely. Whether you ask a friend, family member, public or private transportation, have a plan to assure everyone makes it home safely.’
This year’s numbers are consistent with recent years. In 2017, DUI patrols during Blue-White weekend yielded six DUI arrests, one arrest for drug possession, nine traffic citations and 65 warnings.
