Centre County Adds 56 COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 6,651

Centre County reported 56 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 31 on Sunday and 25 on Monday — to bring its total to 14,873, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 6,651 positives — 3,933 on Sunday and 2,718 on Monday — for a statewide total of 1,045,400.

The county also had 114 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 65,428. Across Pennsylvania, there were 12,933 new negatives for a total of 4,175,365.

For the 30th consecutive day, DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 213.

Statewide, there were seven new COVID-19 deaths reported on Sunday and five on Monday, bringing Pennsylvania’s total is 25,200.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 16 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of nine since the hospital’s last update on Friday. The patients range in age from 22 to 90, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The statewide rise in hospitalizations continued with 2,247 COVID-19 inpatients, including 427 in intensive care and 225 on ventilators, across Pennsylvania as of Monday morning.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation. 

A total of 47,691 people in Centre County are at least partially covered by the COVID-19 vaccine. The total includes 28,211 who are fully covered, either through the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both required doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 888,747 are confirmed and 156,653 are probable. In Centre County, 13,575 are confirmed and 1,298 are probable.
