Centre County Adds 74 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 5,785

Centre County reported 74 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 10,525, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 5,785 new positives, bringing the statewide total to 799,957.

The county also had 280 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 55,596. Across Pennsylvania there were 13,149 new negatives for a total of 3,546,910.

DOH reported two new COVID-19 deaths among Centre County residents to bring the total to 183. Coroner Scott Sayers has confirmed 130 deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, ranging in age from 55 to 104.

With 205 new COVID-19 deaths reported on Friday, Pennsylvania’s total is now 20,526.

According to the state’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes both Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 34 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized in Centre County, including two in intensive care and two on ventilators.

Statewide, 3,997 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 803 in ICUs and 479 on ventilators, as of Saturday afternoon.

An estimated 79% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

According to DOH data, 4,828 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to date. Of those, 1,355 have received the required second dose.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 703,908 are confirmed and 96,049 are probable. In Centre County, 9,810 are confirmed and 715 are probable.
