Centre County reported eight new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 16,840, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added fewer than 1,000 positives for the fourth time in five days. The 941 new cases bring the statewide total to 1,199,536.
The county also had 58 additional negative test results to increase its total to 69,508. Across Pennsylvania, there were 7,888 new negatives for a total of 4,583,887.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 12 COVID-19 inpatients, unchanged from Wednesday. The patients range in age from 35 to 94, a hospital spokesperson said. According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, one COVID-19 patient in Centre County is on a ventilator and in intensive care.
Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,152 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 20 since Wednesday, with 289 in intensive care [-6] and 172 on ventilators [-5].
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224.
With 40 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,163.
An estimated 94% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
As of Thursday morning, 67,623 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 13,734 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.
