Centre County Adds 80 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 4,164

Centre County reported 80 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 16,072, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 4,164 positives for a statewide total of 1,131,014.

The county also had 148 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 67,367. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,958 new negatives for a total of 4,342,722.

Centre County’s positivity rate saw a slight decline for the third straight week. For the week of April 16-22, Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate was 8.8%, down from 8.9% the previous seven days, according to the update DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 8.6%, up from 9.6% the previous week.

DOH reported two new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents on Saturday, bringing the local total at 219.

With 45 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,983.

According to DOH hospitalization data, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 22 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County. Statewide, Pennsylvania has 2,656 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 46 since Friday.

An estimated 89% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Saturday morning, 46,981 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 20,645 are partially covered.

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 953,879 are confirmed and 177,135 are probable. In Centre County, 14,668 are confirmed and 1,404 are probable.
