Centre County reported 82 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday to increase its total to 22,664, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Among total cases 20,428 are confirmed and 2,236 are probable.
Pennsylvania added 4,159 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,725,902.
The county also had 18 new negative test results to bring the total to 84,586. Statewide, there were 3,353 new negatives for a total of 5,899,190.
Deaths
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 258.
With 32 new COVID-19 deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, the statewide total is now 33,283.
Hospitalizations
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 44 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, four fewer than on Saturday. Three [-1] are in intensive care and three are on ventilators [-1].
Pennsylvania has 3,593 COVID-19 inpatients, 45 more than on Saturday, with 816 in intensive care [+10] and 480 on ventilators [+16]. The statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations are the most since Jan. 27.
An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation that considers a case as recovered if it has not been reported as a death and it is more than 30 days past the date of the first positive test or onset of symptoms.
Prison cases
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Benner state prison has 77 active COVID-19 cases among inmates — unchanged from Saturday and nearly triple the second highest state correctional facility — and 28 among staff, also the highest among any SCI.
Rockview state prison has two active inmate cases and five among staff, unchanged from Saturday.
Both facilities are in Benner Township.
At Benner, 1,569 inmates are fully vaccinated, 14 are partially vaccinated and 198 are not vaccinated. Among staff, 279 are fully vaccinated and 349 are not vaccinated.
Rockview has 1,661 inmates who are fully vaccinated and 60 who are not vaccinated. Among staff, 325 are fully vaccinated and 392 are not vaccinated.
Transmission level
All 67 counties in Pennsylvania are at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update.
Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.
Vaccinations
As of Sunday morning, 86,544 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated [+45 since Saturday] and 11,482 are partially covered [+99]. Third doses have been administered to 22,537 county residents [+273].
Among the county’s entire population, 68.3% have received at least one dose and 52.4% are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. Among adult residents, 74.6% have received at least one dose and 58.3% are fully vaccinated.
Statewide, 68.8% of adults and 58% of the total population are fully vaccinated.
Vaccination appointments through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
All adults are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.
