STATE COLLEGE — AAUW State College recently announced $26,000 in scholarships to five women attending Penn State, University Park campus, who have had their education interrupted for two or more years. The scholarships were awarded at AAUW’s Awards and Scholarship banquet.
The 2025 scholarship recipients include Samantha Bergers in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, Morgan Colpetzer of Penn State World Campus, Savannah Heiden in the College of Agricultural Sciences, Moira Inocencio in the College of Arts and Architecture and Morgan Noll of Penn State World Campus.
The scholarship funds came from scholarship endowments, proceeds from over time from annual Used Book Sale and private donations. The scholarships were named to recognize past AAUW branch presidents: Lucretia Simmons, Vonna Jansma, Evelyn C. Marboe, Suzanne Kerlin and Louise Tukey. There was also a recent gift from the Anne L. Heinsohn and Lienhard Family Fund that contributed to the scholarship funds. Anne was a member of AAUW State College before her passing.
Additionally, AAUW awarded $3,200 in scholarships to another five Penn State students to attend the National Collegiate Conference for Women Student Leaders, which was held at the University of Maryland.
The five scholarship recipients included Ayesha Iqbal in the College of Science, Ela Garza in the College of Liberal Arts and the Schreyer Honors College, Savannah McCloskey-Reigh in the College of Agricultural Sciences, Natalia Brizuela-Wahlin in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Emma Steely in the College of Agricultural Sciences.
