BOALSBURG — Adult Children of Aging Parents (ACAP) Centre County will host “When Someone You Love Has Dementia,” a one-day educational conference for family caregivers, on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Harvest Fields, 150 Harvest Fields Dr, Boalsburg.

The in-person program is designed to provide caregivers with understanding, practical strategies, and tools for navigating the dementia caregiving journey.
The morning session will feature a presentation from the Alzheimer’s Association, providing information about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia to help caregivers understand the changes their loved ones may experience. The afternoon will include interactive breakout sessions focused on communication and managing dementia-related behaviors, offering practical approaches for responding to challenging situations and improving interactions. Participants will also experience an immersive activity designed to provide insight into the physical and cognitive challenges faced by people living with dementia. The conference is intended for both new and experienced family caregivers seeking education, practical resources, and deeper understanding of dementia care.
The program will be presented by Chris Gojmerac, Regional Relations Executive – Healix LLC and Liz Plozner-Chalfa, Regional Director of Operations – Juniper Village.
