MONTGOMERY – The Dept. of Pennsylvania’s American Legion Auxiliary’s Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Counties Council was hosted by Bower Decker American Legion Auxiliary Unit 251 of Montgomery.
Special guest was ALA Dept. of Pennsylvania’s Central Vice President Julia Maldonado. Maldonado is currently serving on National’s Eastern Division as Public Relations Chairman.
The annual memorial service was held by ALA Council Chaplain Linda Womeldorf for deceased ALA members that were lost this past year. ALA members from Glenn Sharrow ALA Unit 035-Hughesville, George W. Pepperman ALA Unit 036-Jersey Shore, Eugene Grafius ALA Unit 104-Montoursville, William Marshall Crawford ALA Unit 131-Lock Haven, Bower Decker ALA Unit 251-Montgomery, Roland Ritter ALA Unit 268-Muncy, Keystone ALA Unit 444- Millheim, Bitner-Bechdel ALA Unit 623-Beech Creek, and Mumpher-Shawley ALA Unit 893-Milesburg were in attendance.
These women are part of the largest veteran’s service organization in the world. “Service, Not Self”, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary, is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve and have served, by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, they advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
The next ALA’s Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Council meeting will be hosted by Nittany American Legion Auxiliary Unit 245 in State College on Wednesday, March 11. All American Legion Auxiliary members are invited to attend. Contact your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit to make reservations. Centre, Lycoming and Clinton ALA Council will be having an ALA Department of Pennsylvania Leadership Class hosted by William Marshall Crawford ALA Unit 131 of Lock Haven on Saturday, March 28.
