WINGATE — Four-time PIAA girls’ javelin champion Angela Hoover was honored before Bald Eagle Area split a non-league dual meet with Central Mountain in high school track and field at Alumni Stadium on Thursday, April 14.

The BEA boys won, 98-51, behind Owen Irvin’s victories in the long jump and triple jump. Abby Hoover garnered first-place points in the javelin and discus for the Lady Eagles, but they fell to the Lady Wildcats, 96-54.

Tanner Bowser, Camden Comley, Kaleb Matis, Aaron Sharp, Kevin Taylor, Colton Wagner and Max Yetsko won an individual event apiece for the Bald Eagle boys.

Other BEA girls winners included Claudia Irvin, Heather Leskovansky and Olivia Taylor.

P-O HOSTS ST. JOSEPH’S

Starcia Bainey won four individual events and Jaylee Cook won two individual events and was part of two winning relays as the Philipsburg-Osceola girls topped visiting St. Joseph’s and West Branch in an inter-league triangular on April 14.

The Lady Mounties scored 102 team points. West Branch had 30 and the Wolf-Pack 18.

Bainey finished first in all three jumping events along with the 100 hurdles. Cook, meanwhile, prevailed in the 800 and 1600. She joined Kylie Timko, Audrey Smith and Lily Warlow to win the 3200 relay and teamed with Marlee Butterworth, Sarah Bock and Megan Holenchik to finish on top in the 4-by-400.

Holenchick also won the open 400.

Sarah Bock, Madison Barnhart, Madison Barger and Savannah Miller gave Philipsburg-Osceola a sweep in the relay in the 4-by-100.

Barger also captured both the 100 and 200 individually.

P-O’s Kalista Butler took first in the javelin and pole vault. Reilly Vroman got the Lady Mounties first-place scoring in the shot put. St. Joseph’s Abby Ridenour pa

ed the field in the 3200 meters.

Josiah Kephart sparked the Philipsburg-Osceola boys by sweeping the throwing events. The Mounties needed it, clipping West Branch, 63-50. St. Joseph’s scored 36. Andrew Faust (110 hurdles), Braedon Fenton (long jump), Scott Frantz (3200), Braydon Little (400) and Matthew Reese (pole vault) rounded out the Mounties’ winners list.

Taylor James and Colin Simander headlined things for the WolfPack by winning two individual events apiece — James the 100 and 200, Simander the 800 and 1600. St. Joseph’s Akio Ohomoto-Frederick prevailed in the 300 hurdles.

St. Joseph’s also placed first in the boys’ 4-by-400.

STATE COLLEGE

Carlisle managed to diminish State College’s roll call of winners a bit, but the Little Lions’ depth still resulted in a 105-45 Mid-Penn Conference home victory on April 14.

The Little Lions swept the relays.

State College didn’t have an individual double winner, but Sean Adams took the 400, Max Bodner the triple jump, David Brown the 110 hurdles, Trent Dinant the 1600, Ian Dorefice the pole vault, Charles Endres the 800, Ryan Lindenberg the 300 hurdles, Mitchell Maher the shot put, Isaac Opperman the 3200 and Ben Spencer the discus.

Dinant, Endres and Lindenberg each were part of one of the relay wins, as well.

On the girls’ side, Carlisle outpointed State College, 82-68. Shannon Mullin jumped 18 feet, 10.5 inches to win the long jump but didn’t compete in the triple after a meet with Mifflin County earlier in the week.

State’s Sarah Tate was first in the 100 hurdles, while Mia Iceland won the pole vault.

The Lady Little Lions also captured the top spot in the 4-by-800.
