BELLEFONTE — Walker Township held its Fall Festival on Sept. 24. This annual event is sponsored by the township’s parks and rec department and coordinated by Patty Correll. Hundreds of residents were on hand to enjoy the many free and fun activities on the warm, sunny autumn day.
Children decorated pumpkins, made crafts and played several festival games. The family scarecrow making proved to be a favorite activity once again. Other highlights included activities with some superheroes from the Alliance of Heroic Hearts, Smokey the Bear, face painting by Andrea Harman, strolling magician Richard Benninghoff and balloon animals by Pierce Sanute from Full of Hot Air.
Hands-on activities included insect investigations provided by Anne Johnson from the Penn State entomology department, animal pelts with Alicia Folk from Bald Eagle State Park and dental hygiene practices by Rebecca Stover from Bellefonte Dental.
This year featured interactive animal shows by Leah Guisar from Animal Assisted Interactions. Families were introduced to many animals such as a snake, lizard, toad, rabbit, turtle, fish and chicken. Interacting with the live animals was a fan favorite with festival goers.
