STATE COLLEGE — Apple Hill Antiques celebrated its 26th anniversary in a new location in State College.
On May 1, the shop re-opened at 2221 E. College Ave., across from Olde New York restaurant and close to Tubbie’s Waterworks. Roger and Jan Snyder are the shop owners. The shop offers high-quality antiques and vintage collectibles in gallery settings on two floors.
Apple Hill’s dealers are well known in the Centre Region. Most are retired or nearly retired business people who have been engaged in antique sales and collecting for many years; many are experts in popular collecting fields, including country primitives, local antiques (such as the Bellefonte basket and local crocks), vintage vinyl, Penn State memorabilia, mid-century modern, books, coins, pottery, art glass and vintage jewelry. Several of Apple Hill’s dealers are educators and authors. Owner Roger Snyder does antiques appraisals for local groups to benefit charities and educate the public.
Apple Hill also serves as the home of two well-known local businesses: the State College Coin Shop, whose owner, Dave Kreamer, may be contacted for information and values about vintage and antique coins, paper money, and related collectibles; and Arboria Records, a long-time State College destination for quality and hard-to-find vinyl.
The sale of Apple Hill’s prior site on Gerald Street led to a search for a new home. Many of Apple Hill’s dealers have made the transition; customer feedback has been very positive.
Apple Hill Antiques is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing on major holidays. Photos of recent arrivals and items of special interest are posted each week on the shop’s Facebook and Instagram pages. General queries may be directed to applehillantiques@gmail.com.
