BELLEFONTE — A two-month exhibit at the Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary. The show is titled “This Land Is Your Land” and highlights the work of members of the Farmland Preservation Arts of Central Pennsylvania.
The museum at 133 N. Allegheny St. is opened on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4:30 p.m. with a major gathering on the first Sunday of each month.
The exhibit is on display in September and October.
The art explores stewardship, environmental preservation and the enduring relationship between people and the land. Through painting and visual storytelling, the exhibition reflects on the beauty, history and working character of the rural landscape while considering its future for generations to come.
“This Land Is Your Land” celebrates the fields, farms, forests, and communities that shape people’s shared sense of place. Rooted in direct observation and personal connection to the land, the exhibit invites viewers to reflect on how the places people inhabit influence their identity, culture and collective future. Through diverse artistic voices, the Farmland Preservation Artists seek to honor the legacy of our land.
Composed of 17 local artists, the Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania formed in late 2005. The group is a joint enterprise of the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania and the Centre County Farmland Trust. Its mission is to promote the preservation and appreciation of farmland through the visual arts.
