CENTRE COUNTY — In local high school baseball, the Bellefonte Raiders kept rolling with two shutout wins while St. Joseph’s Academy, BEA, Philipsburg-Osceola and State College all came through with wins in Week 2.
Here’s a brief look at all the Centre County teams as to what is happening:
Bellefonte 10, Bishop Carroll 0
At home against LHAC foe Bishop Carroll on March 25, Bellefonte pitcher Carsen Henry pitched a five-inning complete game two-hitter while the Raider offense scored nine runs in the first three innings against the Huskies.
After another run in the bottom of the fifth, Bellefonte completed the 10-0 victory and moved to 4-0 for the new 2026 season.
Henry was on his game as he gave up just two hits — a single in the fifth inning and in the first — walked one and struck out four. He retired 9 of the last 11 batters that he faced and did not allow a runner to advance past second base.
On offense, the Raiders opened the game with four runs in the first inning, another in the second, and then essentially wrapped up the game with four more in the third. An RBI single by Quentin Crouthhamel in the bottom of the fifth inning ended the game under the 10-run rule.
Center fielder Cole Houser led the charge for the Raiders with two hits and three RBIs, and Zach Lehman and Jack McHail also had two hits. McHail and Crouthhamel each knocked in two runs.
On Monday, March 30 in Altoona, it was almost the same story against Bishop Guilfoyle.
Pitcher Triston Heeman allowed just four hits, no runs, with six strikeouts while the hitters scored 11 runs on 11 hits in another 10-run rule victory.
Evan Mattern led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, including a triple, and McHail had two hits, a home run and two RBIs.
Houser, and Isaac Gall each had two hits as well.
Bellefonte led 4-0 going into the fifth inning, but four runs in the fifth inning and then three more in the sixth ended the game.
Now 5-0, the Raiders have home games coming up against Bellwood-Antis and Tyrone.
Bald Eagle Area 16, Bellwood-Antis 12
There were 28 runs and 28 hits in the BEA at Bellwood-Antis baseball game on March 30, and the Bald Eagles had to come from behind late to finally clinch their second win of the season, 16-12, over the Blue Devils.
Behind 12-11 going into the fifth inning, BEA’s Graysen White hit a bases-loaded, three-run triple and Isaac Johnson followed with an RBI single that gave the Eagles a 16-12 lead with two innings to play.
From there, winning pitcher and reliever Teagun Runkle shut out the Devils and secured the BEA victory.
The game had wild swings from the very beginning. BEA opened with a run in the first, but Bellwood took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second inning.
BEA then took control — it seemed — with eight runs in the top of the third inning on six hits, including a home run by Kaleb Irion, two walks, an error and two hit batters.
Not to be outdone, Bellwood countered with eight runs of its own in the bottom of the inning to take an incredible 12-9 lead.
That third inning by itself featured 16 runs and 14 hits.
But reliever Runkle settled the game down and did not allow a run over the final four innings, while BEA added one in the fourth and fifth and then clinched the win with the rally in the sixth.
BEA knocked out 15 hits total in the game with White and Irion getting three each while Johnson, Luke Hosband, Runkle and Takoda Ripka got two each.
White knocked in four runs and Husband three while Irion scored three times.
BEA is now 2-2 with away games at Penns Valley, West Branch, Richland and Bellefonte coming up.
Philipsburg-Osceola 8, Bald Eagle Area 3
Philipsburg-Osceola’s Archer Baughman and Fischer White each hit a home run and combined to drive in five runs in the Mounties’ 8-3 victory over BEA in Wingate on March 26.
P-O scored seven of its eight runs in the first four innings while pitchers Zach Yoder and Nick DeSimone held the Bald Eagles to just six hits and three runs.
P-O took a 5-3 lead into the fourth inning when Baughman and Connor Guenot struck RBI hits that padded the lead to four runs.
Another run in the sixth on an RBI single by Parker Lamb set the final score at 8-3.
White ended the game with three RBIs while Baughman and Guenot each knocked in two.
The win, the team’s second in a row after an opening day loss to Hollidaysburg, put the Mounties’ record at 2-1 with games at Clearfield and at Chestnut Ridge coming up.
State College 1, Chambersburg 0
The State College Little Lion baseball team improved to 2-1 for the season with a win over Chambersburg on Tuesday afternoon thanks to the combined efforts of pitchers Rowan Walker and Cody Norman.
Walker and Norman stymied the Trojans and held them without a run and just one hit while SC made a single run in the second inning stand up for the victory.
Alex Ruocco doubled in that run after Skyler Crane walked with one out. Crane scored all the way from first base with what turned out to be the only run in the game.
SC had six hits all together in the game with Ruocco and Jake Hall both getting two.
But it was Walker and Norman who were the story. They allowed no runs on one hit with seven strikeouts, and they retired the final six batters they faced.
The Mid-Penn win improved SC to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
On March 28, the Lions restarted their offense after their opening day, 2-1 loss to Mifflin County in an 8-6 victory over District 11’s Easton Area Rovers at home.
SC opened the game with three runs in the first inning, scored four more in the third, and then added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to take win No. 1 in 2026.
Easton, however, would not go away with three tying runs in the top of the third inning, and then three more in the fourth that drew the Rovers to within 7-6.
But State College made it 8-6 on a sacrifice fly by Cody Norman in the fifth, and then pitcher Michael Yourey took the save with three clutch scoreless innings.
State College’s Davontae Hardison took offensive honors for the Lions with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning that put the Lions ahead 6-3. Another run in that inning on an RBI double by Lucas Bierly put SC in the lead for good.
The Lions struck eight hits altogether with Connor Kulka and Bierly both getting two.
Yourey pitched 3.2 innings with no runs, three hits and three strikeouts.
SC next will see Chambersburg at home and then travel to Cedar Cliff on April 2.
St. Joe’s 11, Juniata 5
It was an up-and-down week for the St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy baseball team.
The WolfPack rallied for eight, fifth inning runs in an 11-5 victory over Juniata on March 25 to improve to 2-0 for the new season.
But the team could not keep it going at Line Mountain on March 30 as LMHS rallied late to take an 8-4 conference victory.
Following that, on Tuesday afternoon, visiting Newport rallied for 10 runs in the top of the third inning and swept to a 12-1 victory over the WolfPack.
SJCA was held without a hit in the game by Newport pitcher Jameson Cummins and scored its only run on a walk, two steals and a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The loss dropped the WolfPack to 2-2 for the season.
At Juniata, SJCA fell behind 4-2 after four innings, but an eight-run rally in the top of the fifth inning, highlighted with a two-run triple by Haden Lingle, gave the ‘Pack a six-run lead they would not give up.
Both teams scored a run in the seventh inning, but SJCA reliever Caleb Foytack closed out a Juniata rally to clinch the victory.
CJ Grove and Max Jennings led the offense for the WolfPack with three hits each, and Lingle had two hits and two RBIs.
Things did now turn out as well at Line Mountain on March 30.
The WolfPack did rally for four runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Line Mountain scored five in the same inning and took a 6-4 lead.
Then the Eagles, with two more runs in the fifth, held off the ‘Pack to take an 8-4 win.
SJCA outhit Line Mountain, 5-4, but five errors led to six unearned runs that led to the defeat.
Grove was again effective at the plate with three hits and an RBI.
St. Joseph’s next will see Susquenita away before returning home against Penns Valley on April 6.
Hollidaysburg 10, Penns Valley 0
The Penns Valley Rams fell behind early to Hollidaysburg on March 30 in Hollidaysburg and could not recover in a 10-0 loss to the Golden Tigers.
Hollidaysburg went up 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning, and then the Tigers rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to close out a 10-0, 10-run rule win.
At the same time, HHS pitcher Cole Hartman was throwing a complete game, two-hit shutout with just a walk and four strikeouts.
Parker Feltenberger and Brayden Kurtz each had one hit for PV, which now stands at 0-2 for the season.
Penns Valley will next see Bald Eagle Area and Huntingdon at home in LHAC matchups.
