Bellefonte track and field hosts tri-meet

BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte Area hosted Tyrone and Hollidaysburg in a three-team meet on April 14, featuring a competitive slate of events across both track and field as the regular season continued.

The boys 100-meter dash highlighted one of the day’s closest finishes as Hollidaysburg’s Devin Walters edged Bellefonte Area’s Caleb Bartley winning in 11.20 while Bartley followed closely in 11.25.

In the 400 meters, Hollidaysburg’s Andrew Chestney took first place in 54.38 with Bellefonte’s Calvin Lovrak finishing second in 54.69.

Distance events were led by Hollidaysburg in the 1600 meters where Reuben Manfred claimed the win in 4:28.62, followed by teammate Sam Chestney in 4:30.61 to complete a sweep of the top two spots.

Relay events showcased depth across all three teams. In the 4×100-meter relay, Hollidaysburg placed first in 44.34, followed by Tyrone in 45.12 and Bellefonte in 45.42. The 4×800-meter relay saw Hollidaysburg take another win in 8:19.10 with Bellefonte finishing second in 8:37.95 and Tyrone placing third in 8:41.26.

In field events, Bellefonte Area’s Neil Alterio led the javelin with a throw of 134-10 while Tyrone’s Isaac Scott placed second at 132-4. Bellefonte also swept the top two spots in the pole vault with Seth Muchmore winning at 9-0 and Justin Roberts finishing second at 8-6.

On the girls’ side, the 100-meter dash ended in a tie as Bellefonte’s Althea Helms and Hollidaysburg’s Jaclyn Sahlaney both crossed the line in 12.41 to share first place.

Hollidaysburg’s Sydney Ulery claimed the 400-meter title in 59.92, while Bellefonte’s Addison Fry finished second in 1:01.16.

In the 800 meters, Bellefonte’s Natalie Jolley secured the win in 2:31.12, followed by Tyrone’s Ella Savino in 2:43.44. Bellefonte continued its success in distance events with Anna Tyson winning the 1600 meters in 5:50.06, while Savino placed second in 6:04.31.

The relay competition remained strong on the girls’ side as well. In the 4×100-meter relay, Hollidaysburg captured first place in 51.01, followed by Tyrone in 51.56 and Bellefonte in 54.35. In the 4×800-meter relay, Bellefonte took first place in 10:26.02, with Hollidaysburg finishing second in 11:16.91 and Tyrone placing third in 11:36.41.

Field events added to Bellefonte’s strong showing. Victoria Schellenberg won the pole vault at 10-0, with Tyrone’s Addison Warren finishing second at 8-6. In the discus, Bellefonte’s Emma Harter led the field with a throw of 99-4, while Tyrone’s Josie Dicken placed second at 92-11.
