BELLEFONTE — For the third time this season, Bellefonte cross country competed on their home course Wednesday, Sept. 18. The event began with pump-up music playing to get the runners ready and the singing of the national anthem by the girls varsity team. Some teachers were also recognized before the start, with much appreciation for their work given.
It was a good evening to watch a cross-country race unfold. Both boys and girls competed against Chestnut Ridge and Bishop Carroll.
On the boys side, Bellefonte started out with each other in the race and progressed through the last mile of the 5k course. Kaiden Williams had an exciting finish against a Chestnut Ridge runner. The cheer and excitement for the finish as Williams raced to the line first with a time of 18:24 echoed through the spectators.
Coming in third and fourth were Bellefonte’s Maverick Muchmore and Jonathan Gasper. Muchmore ran a time of 19:03 and Gasper 19:12. Elijah Davis had his best run of the season, placing seventh with a time of 20:14. Kaiden Musser finished with a time of 27:42, securing the wins over Chestnut Ridge and Bishop Carroll. The boys moved to 5-0 in league competition.
For the girls, it was very much a good team race once again. Addison Fry and Natalie Jolley ran together giving themselves a second and third-place finish respectively. Fry ran a 22:10 and Jolley ran a 22:20.
Emma Burger ran her best race of the season, placing sixth with a time of 24:54. Coming in 10th, 11th and 12th were Anna Tyson (27:08), Alexis Fravel (27:14) and Ruthann Smoyer (27:26.) The girls move to 4-1 for the season.
