BELLWOOD-ANTIS — Bellwood-Antis hosted a multi-team track and field meet featuring Bellefonte Area, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola, with athletes from all programs delivering strong performances across both track and field events as the regular season continued.
In the 100-meter dash, Bellefonte’s Althea Helms led the girls’ field with a winning time of 12.50, while on the boys’ side, Bellefonte’s Caleb Bartley won in 11.30. Bellwood-Antis’ Ella Cherry and Miles Smearman each finished second in their respective races, with Cherry running 12.60 and Smearman posting 11.40.
The 200 meters followed a similar pattern as Helms earned another win for Bellefonte in 26.00, while Bartley completed his sprint sweep for Bellefonte with a victory in 23.30. Cherry placed second for Bellwood-Antis in 26.40, and Smearman followed Bartley closely again in 23.31.
In the 400 meters, Bellefonte’s Addison Fry won the girls’ race in 1:00.60, while Bellwood-Antis’ Owen Stoltzfus took the boys’ title in 52.90. Alexis Wagner of Bellwood-Antis placed second in the girls’ race in 1:01.90 and Bellefonte’s Elliott Donmoyer finished second in the boys’ event in 53.30.
The 800 meters featured close finishes on both sides. Bellwood-Antis’ Julie Kraft won the girls’ race in 2:28.50, just ahead of Bellefonte’s Anna Tyson in 2:28.90. On the boys’ side, Bellefonte’s Carson Fritchman earned first place in 2:11.40 with Penns Valley’s Taven Price finishing second in 2:13.00.
In the 1600 meters, Bellefonte’s Natalie Jolley won the girls’ race in 5:34.70, narrowly edging Bellwood-Antis’ Blake Pennington, who finished in 5:35.50. Bellwood-Antis responded on the boys’ side, as Martin Fatzinger won in 4:58.90 with teammate Bryce Hollenbach close behind in 5:02.60.
The 3200 meters saw Bellwood-Antis’ Kraft dominate the girls’ field in 12:34.10, with teammate Addison Wagner finishing second in 13:35.00.
In the field events, Victoria Schellenberg of Bellefonte won the girls’ pole vault at 10-0, while Bellwood-Antis’ Olivia Rishel placed second at 9-6. In the discus, Bellwood-Antis’ Emma Taneyhill led the girls with a throw of 123-0, while Philipsburg-Osceola’s Evan Eichenlaub placed second in the boys’ discus at 135-2 behind Bellwood-Antis’ Jayce Quick, who won with 137-6 and teammate Collin Burroughs at 130-4. Bellefonte’s Emma Harter took second in the girls’ discus at 103-0 and Bellefonte’s Jack Tyson won the boys’ javelin with a throw of 150-8.
Bellwood-Antis, Bellefonte Area, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola all delivered competitive performances throughout the meet, with several close finishes highlighting the depth across the field and track events as teams continue building momentum into the final stretch of the season.
