PHILIPSBURG — A Tuesday morning fire heavily damaged a beauty salon in Rush Township and temporarily closed a portion of state Route 350/Tyrone Pike,
According to fire officials, emergency responders from Philipsburg Vol Fire Co. were dispatched at 8:50 a.m. to reports of a fire at Bombshell Salon, 999 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg.
Upon arrival on scene, a working fire was observed at the one-story structure, and a second alarm was requested for additional manpower.
Firefighters were on scene for about 90 minutes.
Heavy smoke and fire damage was sustained by the business. Tyrone Pike was closed in both directions between Ponderosa Road, State Street and Centre Street, and Presqueisle Street. The roadway was later reopened.
It was stated on the salon’s social media post on Tuesday that the salon is closed until further notice. The post also stated that no one was injured as a result of the fire.
Philipsburg Vol. Fire Co. and a state police fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
Assisting at the scene were emergency responders from Mountain Top Vol. Fire Co. of Sandy Ridge, Morris Township Vol. Fire Co., Columbia Vol. Fire Co. of Osceola Mills, Moshannon Valley Vol. Fire Co. and Houtzdale Ramey Vol. Fire Co.
Fire police from Port Matilda, Morris Township, Osceola Mills and BJW assisted the state Dept. of Transportation with the road closure.
